Last night was the semifinals of the Cagematch of the Fallen Teams at iO. James Jackson played against Maude. It was close. Going purely by audience vote, Maude actually beat us by one vote. There are two judges, though, each with 15 points to give away, and they both voted for us.

So, James Jackson goes on to the final round next Saturday at midnight against Sandbox Democracy, a team that started at the theater during the same schedule as us, oh so many years ago.

Here's a candid photo I took of one of the judges, at the bar after the show.

Comments:
On an improv message board, Glynn (who is on Sandbox Democracy, along with Steve), posted this message, printed out on a photoshopped scroll:

"And lo, it was foretold...

"In the seventh year of the third millennium... in the eighth month as the fourth day becomes the fifth... in a venue where Cubs fans pass out and air conditioning is often broke and dogs are free to roam during improv shows... TITANS WILL CLASH.

"Come this Saturday, August 4 at midnight downstairs at the legendary i.O. Theatre. Sandbox Democracy will battle their olde arch-nemeses contemporaries James Jackson in the Cage Match of Fallen Teams Finals.

"After the dust settles... and the votes are counted... and the dead are carried away... ONE WILL STAND."

This post could have been more "pluggy." You know, I bet Sandbox is plugging Catchmatch pretty hard on their photoblogs.

Does he also make the schedule? That may explain why it always takes forever for it to come to out.
